What an exciting time to be part of the Knox County School System. Your children are benefiting from unprecedented change in the way we are addressing their educational needs. With increased accountability, significantly higher standards, and greater graduation requirements, the need for more focused instruction has never been more important. Our teachers are involved in on-going training in the use of research based instructional strategies, formative assessments, and using data to drive instruction. The result of such training and application is and will continue to be steady improvement that will allow for our schools and individual children to be 'First to the Top' in academic success!!
You can help your child and his/her teachers in our quest for academic success in the following ways: 1. Keep track of your child's studies by frequently checking the parent portal. 2. Encourage your child to read something daily. 3. Ask your child what they studied in school each day and ask them to explain why the topic was/is important. 4. Contact your child's teachers if you have specific concerns. 5. Make sure your child attends school regularly and is prepared for class each day. 6.
